Two Opinions

  The problems with Oklahoma utilitiesʼ (GAS / WATER / ELECTRIC) Smart Meters (a microwave radiation data mining device) being placed on your property through stealth and forced implementation in Oklahoma. 

When Federal Legislation was passed concerning the implementation of Smart Meters the law stated they (Smart Meters) were to be an Opt-In by the ratepayers, however the Utilities have made them MANDATORY. There is no law that says you have to accept a Smart Utility Meter to destroy your health.

Recently, the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen board of directors voted for an "immediate halt to mandatory installation of advanced (wireless) utility meters on all private residences within the jurisdiction of the RDOS; and further, that all such meters recently installed within Electoral Area ʻDʼ be removed immediately, at full cost to FortisBC."

  ITRONʼs OpenWay wireless electricity meters being installed by FortisBC are neither UL nor CSA certified. According to the BC Safety Standards Act, utilities are exempted from having their equipment certified by these agencies on the condition that a registered professional engineer licensed in B.C. tests and certifies, in writing, its safety. Why then is FortisBC unwilling or unable to provide the mandatory fire safety certification required under BC law? Its provision is crucial, given that electrical experts have identified disturbing design flaws in the Itron meter that may help explain numerous smart meter fires in Summerland and other areas of B.C., and in Saskatchewan, Ontario and the U.S.

Tulsa World Defends Smart Meters

Customers who want to opt out of AEP-PSOʼs smart-meter installation will be able to do so — but it comes with a price tag that may seem hefty to some. So far, about 700 customers have informed the electricity provider that they do not want the meters. AEP-PSO already has filed a request with the Oklahoma Corporation Commission on how to fund exceptions to the rollout, and soon will be sending those customers a letter informing them of likely extra charges. 

  "Once that charge has been established, then weʼll communicate with them again" about the cost of opting out, AEP-PSO spokesman Stan Whiteford said. The utility is asking the Corporation Commission to approve two costs associated with the smart-meter opt-out. One is a proposed one-time fee of $183 for replacing the existing meter, while AEP-PSO also wants to add a $28 monthly fee above the current rate.
